Imbibe | The Ultimate Drinks Magazine, Exploring Wine, Spirits, Beer, Coffee, Tea and Every Beverage In Between

Imbibe Magazine a new lifestyle magazine out of Portland, Oregon (my old stomping grounds!) seems to hit the mark. Here's their own description of the magazine:

Imbibe is the magazine of liquid culture. It is a completely new way of looking at drinks—as a distinct culinary category, deserving in-depth exploration of history, ingredients, preparation, artistry and consumption. Imbibe will entertain and educate you about the far-reaching world of drinks, from wine and spirits to beer, coffee, tea and everything in between. This is a magazine that explores the impact drinks have on our lives—socially, politically, culturally and artistically—while highlighting the common thread people around the world share in the act of drinking. Imbibe serves up compelling travelogues, profiles and commentary, but it maintains a practical edge dedicated to helping you make informed buying decisions and enjoy drinks at home. Imbibe is your definitive and indispensable guide to all that’s fit to drink.

I would definitely suggest at the very least, checking out the website at:

BarTv.com - Hip or Hype?

Although not new, it appears to be updated, or at least slightly. BarTV.com attempts to be a one-size-fits all cocktail site, that appears to be owned by Diageo, the huge conglomerate that includes brands such as Bacardi Rum and Bombay Gin. It doesn't really try to hide the fact that they are plugging their liquor portfolio in every which way they can.

The site is slick, and well done, but the content leaves a lot to be desired, especially when it comes to accuracy - and this is esepecially true with the video clipes, where many issues abound. You can read some critiquing of BarTV.com on the Webtender by clicking here.

All in all - not a bad site for the Home or Amateur Bartender, especially with gems of wisdom such as "don't move your lips while counting your pour...." ;)

The next big thing...Pomegranate Liqueur?

Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., today announced the official introduction of the newest taste sensation in the spirits world, a product which embodies the mystical, mythical qualities of the pomegranate -- PAMA(TM) Pomegranate Liqueur.

PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur, the world's first true pomegranate liqueur, is leading the way in the next major category in the spirits world -- pomegranates. Made with all-natural California pomegranates, PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur offers a highly mixable taste profile that is, at the same time, sweet and tart. PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur appeals to today's trendsetters through the rich history, spirituality and alluring taste of the pomegranate.

PAMA(TM) Pomegranate Liqueur is available now in four trendsetting markets -- New York, Chicago, Miami and Southern California -- and will be available in cities nationwide by spring 2006 at top restaurants, bars, and clubs as well as at leading spirits retailers.

"The groundswell of interest in the pomegranate, combined with consumer's desire for new, mixable and colorful spirits, made this the perfect time to launch PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur," said Kate Latts, Director of Marketing for Heaven Hill. "PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur has received a tremendous response in our initial launch markets and we are eager to spread the temptation of PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur nationwide heading into the spring."

As a testament to the growing pomegranate trend, PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur was included in Entree, New York and New Jersey's food industry magazine, as a top pick in 2006, as well as predicting that PAMA will have a major impact in the Metro New York on-premise market for this year. PAMA(TM) Pomegranate Liqueur, which is bottled at a moderate and mixable 34 Proof (17% alcohol by volume), will be available in 750ml with a suggested retail price of $24.99.
